When traveling to other cities, I always find myself appreciating the small things that a city gets right. The little details that are tailored to its people often leave the biggest impression.

A few years ago, while visiting St. Petersburg, Florida, I was fascinated by the SunRunner transit system. It's a bus rapid transit service with dedicated lanes, buses arriving every 15 minutes, and digital terminals that display accurate arrival times adjusted for traffic. The buses and stations were colorful, well branded, and carried the simple message "Beach to Burg," connecting the beach to downtown St. Petersburg. At its core, it's just improved public transit, but when it's thoughtfully designed and given a clear purpose, it becomes something people are proud of.

Reflecting on that experience and comparing it to Windsor, I wondered what our closest equivalent was. The answer was probably the Tunnel Bus, and even that takes people out of the city rather than connecting neighborhoods within it. It has since ended as well.

That got me thinking. Every city has potential, and that potential comes from the people who make it their own.

I was born and raised in Windsor, and I genuinely enjoy seeing new developments and projects happening throughout the city. At the same time, Windsor can sometimes feel bland. I've heard countless people say, "There's nothing to do here."

So I started asking myself: with the skills I have, how can I help right now?

I believe software can be used in unique ways to create movement within a city. There are websites for Windsor tourism, blogs, event listings, and countless Facebook groups, but nothing that truly powers Windsor itself. Everything is fragmented across different platforms, making it difficult to discover what's happening or what people actually recommend.

The long term goal is simple: help build a stronger sense of community in Windsor by getting people out of the house and discovering what the city has to offer.

Of course, you have to start somewhere. So why not start with something almost everyone loves: food.

Every few months, despite thinking I've already discovered all of Windsor's hidden gems, I come across another incredible local restaurant I've never heard of. Food creators on TikTok and other platforms are helping shine a light on these places, but the average person may never see those videos unless they happen to stumble across them.

That's where this idea came from.

I wanted to create a single place that brings together Windsor's food and beverage scene, but with a twist. Instead of relying solely on reviews or algorithms, it highlights what people in Windsor are actually enjoying. It's built around shared local experiences.

On top of that, finding daily specials is surprisingly difficult. If you want to eat out on a Wednesday, you either have to remember a deal from months ago or search through social media pages hoping to find it. By aggregating daily specials in one place, people can easily find the best value while supporting local businesses.

Eventually, this shouldn't stop at restaurants. We want to expand into every type of local service. Need a barber? See who locals consistently recommend. Looking for a roofer? Find the companies people in Windsor have actually had great experiences with.

That's the vision.

For now, we're starting small to see if the idea resonates and can be adopted by the community.

Every vote helps the next person discover what locals genuinely recommend, not what an algorithm guessed based on reviews from across the country.
